Winner of the 2008 National Commitment to Care & Service Award for Charitable Work
presented by Pharmacy Practice
The Murphy family was presented with the Charitable Work Award at the Commitment to Care & Service Awards Ceremony held in Toronto on November 18th, 2008. The Commitment to Care & Service Awards is a national award program hosted by Pharmacy Practice and Drugstore Pharmacy, Canada’s leading pharmacy magazines.
For over 27 years, the Murphy family has been believed strongly in buildling healthier communities. Their continued support of Prince Edward Island’s charitable and volunteer organizations is one way in which they put this concept to action. Murphy’s Pharmacies has dedicated time and resources to a long list of non-profit organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation and numerous other community groups and organizations. But perhaps the Murphy family’s largest contribution to Prince Edward Island is Murphy’s Community Centre, located in Charlottetown, formerly known as the Basilica Recreation Centre.
“Such dedication to charitable work is unprecedented,” said one Commitment to Care & Services Awards judge. “I can only stand in awe of all the work they have done.”
